Radio St. Helena Day 2008 Schedule

Radio St. Helena Day 2008 will be broadcast on 11092.5 KHz in USB on Saturday, 15. November 2008 as follows:

-------------------------------------------------
Times UTC Target areas
-------------------------------------------------
20:00 - 21:00 Japan
21:00 - 22:30 Europe
22:30 - 23:30 North America

Because of the very long "Revival" and "Double-Anniversary" transmissions in 2006 and 2007 and the especially heavy workload at Radio St. Helena during the entire second half of 2008, it was decided that RSD 2008 would be reduced to the above schedule. It is hoped that the times have been chosen so that reception in all areas will be acceptable.

A special email-address during the broadcast is: radio (dot) announcements466 (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk

The QSL procedure is as usual but use the address as stated below:

Radio St. Helena , P.O. Box 93 ,
Jamestown , St. Helena,
STHL 1ZZ , South Atlantic Ocean
"via UK and Ascension Island"

On 21/22 November the MRHS will activate KPH and K6KPH from the original trans-Pacific receive site of the American Marconi Co in Marshall, CA.
This was also the receive site for KPH before WWII. KPH will be active on 426kc, 500kc and on 4Mc and/or 6Mc HF (exact frequencies to be announced). K6KPH will be on 3550kc and 7050kc. Transmitters in Bolinas will be keyed remotely from the Marshall site. KPH was closed at the beginning of WWII so this activation will recall the days before Pearl Harbor.
As a special treat SS JEREMIAH O'BRIEN/KXCH (Denice Stoops at the key) and SS RED OAK VICTORY/KYVM (Steve Hawes at the key) will attempt to be on the air on MF.
If you have the ability to relay traffic to the National Traffic System we'd love to hear from you if you're within range of K6KPH during the day on 3.5Mc or 7Mc. We will be soliciting traffic from those attending this event and may have a lot on the hook. So if you can be QRV for us please let me know.
By the way, there will be no quick band switching between 3.5Mc and 7Mc. Changing bands will require swapping out one tone set for another in the remote console to key the appropriate transmitter!
This will be the second time we have activated KPH from the Marshall site. Last time we were in one of the Marconi cottages. This time we will be in the power house which has been converted into an auditorium. For photos of the earlier event see: http://www.radiomarine.org/Marshall/
